Power Wheels Vehicles
In 1971 Fisher Price began manufacturing
their Power Wheels vehicles line and now has produced over
25 million vehicles making Fisher Price the top children's
battery-powered vehicle manufacturer. Fisher Price organizes
its Power Wheels vehicles into three general categories: 1-2
Years and up to 40 pounds these vehicle only go over grass
and hard surfaces at speeds up to two miles per hour (that's
about walking speed) 2-6 years and children weighing up to
130 pounds and vehicle will run well over grass and hard
surfaces up to two and a half miles per hours and several
models are equipped with reverse. 2-6 years (performance)
for children up to 65 pounds. These are the fastest Power
Wheels vehicles. They are for driving on sidewalks in
parking lots and on other hard surfaces.
What they give up in off roading they more
than make up for in speed as they can hit speeds of nearly
five miles per hour! Monster Traction - for ages three and
up this line of off road vehicle is the counterpart to the
performance line. These powered toys can handle children up
to 130 pounds and can roam across soft ground, tree roots,
driveway edges, and garden hoses in addition to the normal
grass and hard surfaces.
Several Power Wheels vehicles offer two person seating so
your child and a friend can head out for fun and adventure
(be sure to charge the extra batteries) Each model comes
with necessary batteries and comparable charger though you
will find it a better experience to pick up a spare battery
so one is always charging. Fisher Price adds a feature on
the speedier vehicles called the Power Lock Brake System to
help older children slow down the larger vehicles and
prepare them for the controls of more advanced vehicles and
for their first car.
